Level 9/10 Regionals and Xcel Gold/Platinum state meet saw great success - April 16-18, 2021
Level 9 and 10 Regionals were held over the weekend in Bradenton, Florida. This was the exciting weekend that was the culmination of the all the hard work put in for entire Level 9 and 10 season.
The Regionals weekend determines if the athlete will attend Level 10 Nationals or Level 9 Easterns. These two future meets are the pinnacle of the Level 9 and 10 season.
Congratulations to Cally Swaney, who is no stranger to Nationals. Cally was the 2021 Regional Vault Champion in her age division with a score of 9.750. Cally came in 4th AA and will be heading to The Development Program National Championships the weekend of May 11-16 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Simone Brown is a first-year Level 10 athlete who has also qualified for Nationals in May. Simone had a fantastic showing. She is the Regional Beam Champion with a score of 9.450 and secured the bronze medal on bars with a 9.500. Simone placed 3rd AA.
The top 7 in each age division make up the National Team. Athletes who come in 8th and 9th are eligible to attend as an alternate if any of the top 7 cannot make the competition. Get more information on Nationals here: https://www.devnationals.com/women/home/
Gioyvonna Wieseler is the Level 9 AA Regional Champion with a score of 37.925. We are super excited for Gioyvonna. Her name will go on the FIF Wall of Fame for her performance and she will compete at Level 9 Easterns for 2021.
Level 9 athlete Nora Bailey is also gearing up for Level 9 Eastern Championships! Nora placed 2nd AA and took home a silver medal on beam and floor.
Other notable mentions go out to Charlotte Bailey, the Level 9 Vault Champion with a 9.775, and to Addison Hutto who came in 9th AA and is the first alternate. Level 9 Easterns will be held May 7-9 in College Park, Georgia. Get more information on Easterns: http://www.usagymeastern.com/
This past weekend also saw the Gold/Platinum NC State Championships held virtually at FIF. We had 2 athletes win silver medals and qualify for Regionals. Congrats to Ally Decker and Sofia Dorantes!
