From humble beginnings to the start of something big: 2 meets for FIF over the weekend - May 20-23
First In Flight saw two amazing meets this past weekend. The first was the GK U.S. Classic/Hopes Championship in Indianapolis featuring Hopes Elite athlete Addy Fulcher and her coach, Elke Williams.
Addy Fulcher earns 3rd AA at GK U.S. Classic/Hopes Championship
Addy qualified for the Championship after her stellar performance at the GK American Classic at the end of last month.
First In Flight is super proud of Addy and Elke and all the hard work and dedication that went into this meet!
Addy finished 3rd AA with a gold medal on bars and a bronze on floor. Addy has been named to the Hopes National Team for 2021-2022.
Next stop is National Training Camp, June 14-17 in Indianapolis. Congrats from your First In Flight Family!
The 2021 Star League Meet was a huge success
First In Flight's Star League is program that introduces athletes to the sport of gymnastics and competition. It allows them to experience a real meet in a fun atmosphere. The athletes get used to competing, so if they decide to join an Xcel, AAU, or JO team, they are prepared for it.
Joining the Star League Competition was the FIF Pre-Team 2021. Young talented athletes showcase their talents and the skills they have learned throughout the season. These athletes are a part of the FIF developmental program, training to get ready for one of the First In Flight teams. They are coached by Sandy Zipfel.
Star League athletes are made up of 3 groups from beginner to advanced. Each group competes against each other and are scored out of 10. The cleaner the athlete performs, the higher their score.
Competing groups included The Starlets, The Rising Stars, and The Shooting Stars. This year, a fourth group was added, "Shooting Stars Elite," a group of girls who previously competed in this competition and had a higher set of skills.
Congratulations to all athletes! We are so proud of each and every one of them. See results below.
The Star League meet was a fantastic way to end the season. We look forward to the next on coming up in late fall/early winter.
